A decent place for some quality food--yes you won't find a truck with tomatoes sold by the ton to this bistro. The salmon is always done just right and the greek salad is fresh. The portions can be a bit sparse. The desserts are fantastic. They have a good waitstaff and the ambiance is mellow, if a little grey and loud thanks to tables being stationed too close to each other. But overall a good spot for a date night.
its one of the very best restaurants in the area. the interesting entrees and appetizers are beautiful to see and so well put together. interesting ingredients. the desserts are about as good as it gets. anywhere. the wines are very pricey, but even the most reasonable bottle is just excellent. friendliest staff. go early, like at 5. walk around town after.
Lovely dining experience with phenomenal service, a very creative bartender, and exquisite cuisine. I added photos from a couple visits including tonight’s. Our waiter, Scott, was very knowledgeable about the menu and assisted my guests and I in a friendly manner. I am never disappointed by the service here. I’ve had a few items, including the Cacio e Pepe, the lamb ragu papperdale, and I’m not sure what the name is of the meal I had tonight, but it was angel hair pasta with red sauce and I substituted chicken for the shrimp. All of which I recommend! Very delectable entrées, my guests also had nothing but good things to say. The atmosphere is very small and intimate, however, it is also very elegant and and well lit, especially during the evening. A staple for Birmingham, it’s been around for quite some time, and I highly recommend it for multiple variants of food.
Best upscale happy hour! We came for happy hour and it was great. The charcuterie board was delicious and well thought. I cannot overstate how great the old fashioned was for happy hour. Sat at bar and perfectly comfortable. Excellent service. Great selection all around. Will be back for dinner.
This Restaurant is a gem! The server was amazing, super friendly, and made our dining experience unforgettable. And the food? OMG, it was absolutely fantastic. We'll definitely be returning for more delightful meals. Highly recommended!
I attempted to eat at Tallulah Wine & Bistro but unfortunately my party of 3 could not be accommodated by the hostess. I was informed that it was booked with reservations. I pointed out 3 open tables and the hostess said to me that they are reserved for reservations that would be coming. Honestly we didn’t have a reservation but apparently that only made a difference for us as another party of 2, that arrived shortly after could be accommodated without a reservation. It was during the seating of that party after I spoke up did any staff member attempt to try to accommodate us. I was absolutely offended at the audacity of the staff. This is not an establishment that I would recommend. I’ll let you guess as to the amount of melanin in my party. Compared to the other party that lacked any visible signs of melanin. Is that why we couldn’t be accommodated? They were seated and served expeditiously without a reservation.
Nestled in the heart of Birmingham, Michigan, Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro is a haven for gastronomes and wine lovers. With its chic and inviting decor, it's no wonder that it's ranked among the top restaurants in the country, including the Top 100 Best Restaurants in USA/Opentable & Forbes 2019, HOUR Detroit 2022, and Top 3 Best Restaurants in Oakland County.
Highly recommended by a colleague, my husband and I finally made it there, and we were not disappointed. As we arrived early for our reservation, we were still promptly seated by the friendly staff, who made us feel welcome from the outset. The interior décor was a perfect balance of rustic and chic, with natural lighting that created an ambiance that was both welcoming and sophisticated.
Our waiter Scott was a standout, with his impressive knowledge of the menu and ability to make recommendations based on our personal preferences. As he went over the cocktail menu, he recommended their Espresso Martini, which I couldn't resist. As an Espresso Martini aficionado, I know the good ones from the "meh" ones, and I can confidently say that Tallulah's version with tequila was a game changer. The tequila perfectly complemented the essence of the espresso, resulting in a beautifully balanced and flavorful drink.
For appetizers, we ordered the Fetta Frito and Nueske's Bacon. The Fetta Frito was elegantly packaged in filo dough, topped with a tomato jam and green olive mousse, and bursting with flavor. The Nueske's Bacon was a showstopper. The thick applewood-smoked bacon was topped with a flavorful escabeche of pickled vegetables, adding a nice acidic contrast to the rich bacon.
For my main course, I had the Prawn Mushroom Risotto. It was a perfectly balanced dish with arborio rice, mushroom, truffle goat cheese, and chili prawns. The truffle flavor was not overpowering. The creamy arborio rice was cooked al dente, and the truffle goat cheese added a nutty, earthy flavor that complemented the chili prawns.
For dessert, we decided to share the Tiramisu. It was presented in a stemless wine glass, with layers of ladyfingers, bailey espresso, mascarpone, vanilla crumble, and cocoa powder. The presentation was elegant and the flavors were perfectly balanced, with the bitterness of the espresso and cocoa powder cutting through the richness of the mascarpone.
The entirety of their staff is sensational. From Scott's extensive knowledge of the menu to Mario Camaj's managing prowess, and Christian's attentive service, everyone was top-notch.
Overall, Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro exceeded our expectations with its impeccable service, exceptional food, and inviting ambiance. It's a definite must-visit for any food lover who appreciates a great dining experience.
Amazing food but very small portion. Almost microscopic. It is only ordering pasta. It is very cheap to give more pasta. Please provide more food. We ordered three entrées and I still left hungry.
